Welcome to the beautiful Nine Cities! Allow us to introduce you to them:

1. Palm Springs is famous for blending midcentury and modern aesthetics. There's plenty to explore, whether you're browsing the Palm Springs Art Museum, shopping in the Uptown Design District, or hiking through the Indian Canyons. You can even get a bird's-eye view by taking the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway up into the mountains.

2. But that's not all there is to see. Desert Hot Springs lives up to its name, boasting some of the purest hot and cold mineral springs in the world. This spa city is cozied right up to the San Bernardino Mountains near the Mission Creek Preserve, a carefully preserved haven of natural beauty.

3. In Cathedral City, you'll find more of an creative vibe. Art can be found all throughout the city, whether it's the Fountain of Life statue downtown, the galleries on Perez Road, or the memories you can create at the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival & Food Truck Fiesta.

4. Rancho Mirage is a must for those looking for some luxury alongside their fun. History buffs especially will enjoy visiting the city, which is home to Sunnylands, an historic estate which has welcomed world leads and royalty since the 1960s. But if you're more inclined to enjoy nature, the adjacent Center & Gardens may be just what you need.

5. If performative arts are what you need, Palm Desert is home to the McCallum Theatre, which has hosted performances ranging from Broadway acts to magic. The city is also home to the annual Palm Desert Food & Wine Festival and Fashion Week El Paseo. The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens is a great place to wind down, but if you need to work off some of that vacation energy, the Bump and Grind Trail with its 1,000-foot elevation will reward your hard work with stunning views.

6. The shimmer of Indian Wells' Hollywood history of the '50s and '60s has yet to fade - it remains one of the best places around to relax in luxury. With a buzzing culinary scene and a multitude of cultural events, there's never a dull moment. The city boasts beautiful golf courses, and tennis lovers are in luck; the city is known as "Tennis Paradise", home to the BNP Paribas Open.

7. For the romantics, try wandering La Quinta's picturesque Old Town, which features charming cobblestone sidewalks, whitewashed adobe walls, and bougainvillea. Equally perfect for dates or relaxing walks, you can find as many shops, restaurants, and art as your heart desires. For more active fun, there are fantastic golf courses and plenty of hiking trails.

8. Indio is known as the City of Festivals, and for good reason. Aside from the famous Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival and Stagecoach Country Music Festival, there's the Indio International Tamale Festival, the Riverside County Fair and Date Festival, and more. For a more quiet adventure, grab a date milkshake and wander the date groves and citrus trees at Shields Date Garden & Café, which has been a local staple since 1924.

9. Last but certainly not least, Coachella, often called the City of Eternal Sunshine, is bursting with life. Its Mexican heritage shows through in its incredible cuisine and community events, such as Día de los Muertos. When you explore its historic streets, keep an eye out for the Coachella Walls, beautiful murals painted by local artists to celebrate the city's people and history.

Other locales are Idyllwild, nestled comfortably in the San Jacinto Mountains, and Joshua Tree National Park. Both are known for hiking, camping, and gorgeous scenery, and are well worth investigating.
